Quality

The UAB works to acheive maximum quality in all its activities and in the different areas in which it participates. This is why different initiatives have been implemented and the University has been awarded official certificates for quality.

Quality Guarantee Unit (UGQ): responsible for promoting quality in the data obtained by research units and for optimising the quality of service these units provide for their clients. The UGQ is currently involved with implementing and assessing three quality control systems:
- ISO 9000 Series
- UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 Standard
- Good laboratory practices principles

Plan for Language Quality: the 2003-2006 Plan for Language Quality works towards the following objectives:
1. Establish standard criteria for areas of language in which there are no set rules or established forms in the University.
2. Increase the use of Catalan in lectures in centres where it is least used; promote the use of foreign languages in research; and regulate the use of foreign languages in courses with a higher-than-average use of Catalan or that have a language promotion plan.
3. Make sure module programmes are written in Catalan and enable them to be available also at least in Spanish.
4. Make sure students have the practical language skills needed in the academic environment.
5. Draw up a plan to promote learning a third language.
