The activities carried out by both UAB and non-UAB centres can serve as free-choice credits for all UAB students, students from different centres or faculties, or students from one specific field of study.
So that these activities or courses can be approved and included in the list of activities to be recognised as free-choice credits, both internal and external entities shall present their proposal in accordance with the criteria and procedures for the recognition of activities with free-choice credits, passed by the UAB Governing Council.
Presenting your proposal
Internal and external entities should complete the form entitled "Form for proposing courses and activities to be recognised with free-choice credits'' (all fields should be filled in correctly), for each of the activities proposed.
Do not forget to include an e-mail address in the form, since the UAB will send all information related to your proposal to this e-mail address.
Proposals should be presented to the dean of the faculty or director of the centre to which the activity is related.
If the activity is aimed at the whole university, the proposal should be presented to:
Vice-Rector for Academic Policy
Rectorate Building
Bellaterra Campus
08193 Bellaterra (Cerdanyola del Vallès)
A detailed programme of each of the proposed activities must also be presented.
Periods for submitting proposals
1-31 March: activities to be held during the first or second term of the following academic year, and/or during the summer of the following academic year (*).
15-31 October: for activities to be held only during the second semester of the following academic year, and/or during the summer of the following academic year (*).
(*) Dates:

Modifications to proposals
Once the UAB has approved the proposed activity, any modifications made to the proposal must be communicated in writing to the UAB centre where the proposal was presented. You will then be informed on whether the modification has been approved. Any possible modifications should always be communicated before the start of the activity's enrolment period.
Publishing and informing
A list of all activities the UAB recognises with free-choice credits is available on this website.
The activities presented from 1-31 March are published on 16 July.
The activities presented from 15-31 October are published on 1 February of the following year.
Only the activities approved by the UAB and published on this website will be recognised as free-choice credits.
Certificates
Once students have finished the activity, they will be awarded a certificate in accordance with the model established by the UAB, which will vary according to whether it is an internal or external entity. The information on the certificate should coincide with the information published by the UAB on this website.
Students who wish to have their free-choice credits recognised will then have to present their certificate at the Academic Administration Office of the centre where they are enrolled.
The applications period is established by the academic and administrative calendar approved by the UAB Governing Council. Free-choice credits will be allocated according to the criteria set by the Regulation on free-choice credits.
Note
In accordance with the criteria and procedures for the recognition of activities with free-choice credits, passed by the UAB Governing Council, and in the case that the UAB deems it appropriate, agreements signed with external entities will, when applicable, be subject to a levy (*) for the approval and inclusion of the activity to be recognised with free-choice credits. The amount of the levy is set annually by the Finance Commission of the UAB Social Council.
The prices fixed after the last meeting of the Finance Commission are:
For the 2011/12 academic year,
(*) For the approval of a maximum of 10 activities; 200 ¤ (without VAT)
(*) For the approval of 11 to 50 activities; 300 ¤ (without VAT)
(*) For the approval of 51 or more activities; 400 ¤ (without VAT)
The levy will be calculated for the set of activities that the entity presents and that are later approved by the UAB Area of Academic Affairs.
